I bought these in December 2019 for Christmas decoration, but once I had them up, I liked the ambiance they added to our tiny condo patio and decided to leave them up year-round. Based on the price and my general experience with low-cost electronics, I did not expect them to last more than a few months, so I've been very pleasantly surprised that almost two years later, they're still coming on faithfully every evening. There are a few caveats:• The lighted portion is not 36 feet. (I'm confident that if you're reading the product reviews, you are abundantly aware of that by now!) Yes, it's clarified in the product description, but it seems intentionally misleading to put "36 feet" in the title; it should say "20 feet" and clarify in the description that there is a convenient 16-foot unlighted lead section for flexibility in positioning. I'm knocking off one star for this.• The lights are not particularly bright. I expected this (I've played with solar power, batteries, and lights before) and it's perfectly fine for my needs, but if you want very bright lights, you'll probably have to run electricity or rig up something yourself with a bigger solar panel and larger battery.• I live in a humid costal climate, and the individual lights show some rusting and the solar panel's plastic coating is degrading (as is obvious in the photos I'm attaching to this review). As mentioned, I'm surprised it's all continued to work for this long, and deep down I kind of expect it to conk out any day.Despite the caveats, I'm more than happy with this product and the value it represents.I actually appreciate the 16-foot lead wire, because it made it possible to position the solar panel where it gets the best light, while still putting the lights where I want them. (It's only the marketing disingenuousness that irks me.)Bottom line: these lights still turn on every evening and run for at least a couple of hours (3+ in the summer when the panel gets a lot of hours of bright sunlight, 2-ish in the winter when the north-facing location is mostly shaded). When they inevitably die, I'll buy another set.I got these to fix a chandelier for underneath our deck and it put out just the right amount of light. Would highly recommend. When getting them out be careful because it is very easy to get them tangled up.I had high hopes for these but a little after 4 months they started malfunctioning, flickering and up close it appears that rust has accumulated at the tips of the LEDs.These say they are waterproof and living in Southern California, rain isn't an issue so I have no idea how these lasted such a short time, I bought them in summer! And of course, I can no longer return them. The lights themselves arent even bright at all. Very disappointed with this purchase. Would not recommend. The lights worked better than expected having had read the description and the reviews. Yes, there is about 15' of lead-line that other reviewers weren't too happy about but it was stated in the description so it wasn't a deal breaker on my end when I got them. In fact, the extra line came in handy because I just attached the solar cell to my roof as far up as I could get it. Because they get so much uninhibited Arizona sun, the lights turn on at sundown and are still on when I wake up at 4:30/5am the next day. I just set them to the "constant on" mode (or whatever you wanna call it) and let them turn themselves on/off by themself. So I don't really know how the remote works or if the cells will receive the signal from the remote all the way up on my roof, but hey they do what I wanted them to do.little bummed that the length of the "icicles" are so regular but they were cheap so it's not that big of a deal. These lights are so pretty. However, they are not as bright as plug in lights (I know it depends on sunlight probably, but I have not seen any time since I’ve had it that it is as bright as plug ins), and even on the brightest days, the lighting only lasts 2 hours, maybe 3 at max but I feel like it’s only a couple hours if that. I moved them from the front of our house to the back porch. I plan on buying another set for the other side of the porch because it looks so pretty at night there, however, do not plan on them being on all night. (You can change how bright or dim the lights are and that can maybe make them last longer)The reason it has a 4 star is the remote is really not so remote. I almost have to go outside to use. But the lights themselves are great and bright. I like the looks of them. I think I might have put a timing setting on as it turns off sooner than I want it to but when I try to use the remote nothing happens and then I am almost outside and it then works but I can't get it to stay on until morning. It did until I used the remote to check it out and now it seems stuck in a setting but I am not sure. These are very pretty. They are not the easiest to hang because they tangle, if you have an extra person to help hang, it's better. The solar panels need to be in areas with sun for hours out of the day, not just a few hours, otherwise they do not stay lit for long. The panels are not detachable.I do like these and will continue to use. I bought 5 strands, one strand did not work, it was a dud or something though the solar panel was working. The others have worked great. Will continue to use, would buy again just to keep from running cords. The lights are nice, but none of the remotes work. Checked the batteries. Batteries are good. Also if they did work you have to use a different remote for each string. Since remotes dot work you have to go to each string, and turn them on and off, and I can tell the buttons are going to wear out easily. Really hoped to have remote control lights this year. Would send them back, but then would have no lights for Christmas. We are having problems with them and not to our satisfaction. Would like to return if possible and get a refund
