This UDI018 boat is really fast and has good long range transmitter .I pulled out the steel rope as they call it, (drive shaft ) it was greased,I've run it three times now .Twice in choppy water , once in calmwater. I like the waves ,had it jumping the waves sometimes flying 5 ,to 6 ft across the water.The first run was really cool . I hit a small roller head on full throttle the boat submerged, like a sub it kept diving untell I let up on the throttle,it popped back up to the top and took off like a rocket ,Turns on a dime, really! Very little water inside of boat,even after I submerged.So I've orderd the UDI005 The Arrow !UDIOI8 22.7 INCH . Have the larger Cheerwing Arrow version and it works just fine.This is boat is fast, good quality, well made RC racing boat. It is much bigger than my other boats. The speed up to 25MPH( 40km/h), super fun.The only issue with me about this boat is the boat can not flip over by itself. I need to get in the water and help to flip over.Otherwise, it is a great boat. I like it a lot. Fun toy gift for my boys.A lot of the "ready to run" boats on Amazon are only about a foot long, this one is much bigger at 22 inches! This makes it easier to run in places where the water is not as smooth. The brushless motor is also much more powerful, taking this boat up to about 25 mph. That may not sound all that fast but trust me, for a boat this size it is pretty quick!I gave it a trial run in the large fountain pond at the office and that wasn't nearly enough space to run it at full speed! If you really want to floor it, you're going to need something bigger than your typical swimming pool, like a small lagoon/pond. When you mash the throttle it hits full speed almost instantly and covers about 36 feet every second while throwing up an impressive wake.After the first run, I did find a small amount of water in the hull. This appeared to be coming out of the prop shaft where it connects to the motor. You could see a thin line of greasy water at that spot. The amount of water inside the boat wasn't much, maybe 5-6 good sized drops, and easily cleaned out. I did have to use reverse a lot because of the small size of the pond, this could be the reason.The only real complaint is that 8 minutes isn't nearly enough run time on a battery. They really should have outfitted the boat with a larger battery. Thankfully it uses standard xt60 battery and balance connectors, so any hobby grade 3 cell lipo battery should work fine with it if you want to have several of them handy. You can also use a hobby grade charger if you want to recharge the batteries more quickly. Since the motor and speed controller are all water cooled, running the boat for longer shouldn't cause any overheating problems.At least on my boat, the "automatic self righting" didn't seem all that automatic. I capsized a couple of times and both times it took some shots of full forward and reverse throttle to get it to flip back. It did finally flip, it just wasn't immediate or automatic.It has a rubber bumper on the nose to make collisions softer and you can turn the throttle sensitivity back on the remote for kids or just to get used to driving before hitting full speed.Overall I'd say this is a very nice ready-to-run boat that's a lot of fun. I think the only way you'd get much better is to build it yourself from scratch. Recommended for good fun!This is an awesome remote controlled speed boat! Here in Las Vegas, there are multiple parks that allow use of remote control speed boats, so I was excited to give this a try. Its easy to unpackage, install the batteries and understand how to properly use. It was well packaged and was delivered to us undamaged.This little boat will go! It is super fast for a remote control boat! My family and I have spent countless hours playing with this at the lake. It's fun for all of us, and we're all adults! The boat is great quality, and has remained in one piece thru multiple uses, and we have used it a lot! I recommend this remote control boat for adults and kids alike!Very fun brushless RC boat, it’s fast fun and easy to use great gift for kids and adults. Great run time , very detailed and sleek looking.
